Smart policies and regulations alone will not lead to reliable and affordable decarbonization of the U.S. economy — but they are essential components of the decarbonization “recipe.” In a recent special issue of The Electricity Journal guest-edited by RAP staff, authors tackled various ingredients in this recipe. RAP brought together three of the authors who contributed to the special issue for a webinar conversation: Steven Nadel, executive director of the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy; Sue Coakley, executive director of Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships; and Carmen Best, director of policy & emerging markets at Recurve.

Our guest panelists contributed articles on updating traditional energy efficiency programs, designing strategies for efficient electrification of buildings, and using data and technology to enable utilities to treat efficiency as a procurable resource. They discussed those ideas and others with moderator John Shenot, senior advisor at RAP and co-editor of the special issue.
