Ivan Yovchev joined RAP in 2025, where he works on gas regulation, the future of gas grids, industrial electrification and the decrease of fossil fuels use.

Before joining RAP, Yovchev worked for Hydrogen Europe, a Brussels-based advocacy group. His work was focused on the development of hydrogen strategies and the regulatory frameworks for hydrogen across Europe, as well as development and advocacy for hydrogen valleys.

Prior to that, he completed a PhD in Comparative Political Science focusing on Energy Policy from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and an LL.M. in International and European Law – Energy and Climate Law with honors from University of Groningen.

In addition to his native Bulgarian, Ivan speaks fluent English and Portuguese and basic Spanish.
