Alex Antal

Principal

As a Principal at RAP, Alex Antal brings over a decade of experience in energy regulation and policy to the organization. With a focus on regulatory strategy, Alex’s expertise enhances RAP’s mission of driving clean energy transitions and innovative policy solutions.

Before joining RAP in Aug.  2024, Alex served as Policy and Legal Advisor to Chair/Commissioner Scott Rupp and later Commissioner John Mitchell at the Missouri Public Service Commission. In this role, starting in Feb.  2017, Alex led strategic initiatives to enhance the regulatory framework in Missouri, playing a pivotal role in managing regulatory policies and offering counsel on legal and policy matters.

Before this, Alex worked as Associate General Counsel at the Missouri Department of Economic Development – Division of Energy from April 2015 to Feb.  2017, where Alex provided legal guidance on energy regulation and policy development. In this capacity, Alex worked to align the Division’s objectives with legal standards, participating in legal proceedings and stakeholder collaborations.

Earlier in the career, Alex served as Assistant Staff Counsel at the Missouri Public Service Commission from Sept.  2013 to April 2015, providing legal analysis and support on utility regulation and representing the Commission’s staff in regulatory matters.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, graduating cum laude from Saint Louis University with a minor in Economics, and earned a juris doctor with a concentration in International Law from the same institution.

A licensed attorney with the Missouri Bar since 2013, Alex has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Fortnightly Under 40 Award in 2019 and being named to the 40 Under 40 list by Midwest Energy News Network in 2018.

Outside of professional life, Alex actively contributes to the local community, having served on the Columbia Water & Light Integrated Electric Resource & Master Plan Taskforce and the Mayor’s Climate Action and Adaptation Task Force in Columbia, Missouri.

Alex resides in Columbia, Missouri with his wife, Kaitlyn and two daughters, Magnolia and Marguerite. In his free time Alex plays and volunteers with his local rugby club, Columbia Rugby F.C.
